the division of adult and Career Education has been serving adult Learners of all ages 1887 over the past 130 years millions of adults have improve and the lives of their families to classes offered by date there are 11 adult and Career Education schools conveniently located throughout the Los Angeles region while eats its own character all day schools share the same mission of empowering Learners to reach their academic career and Civic goals and collaborate regionally to ensure that all Learners are equipped succeed in a global Society the majority of students served by Daystar English as a second language Learners and program your 2016-17 our schools helped over 35,000 adults to improve English speaking writing and listening skills they caught what what's what's doing the English for the better job for me and myself I need her mom and your phone because I want go to Fresh & so I'm taking ESL classes and I'm on the level side right now and after I'm looking for a network classes computer skills I love language English language have everything is very well so we now have the flag of United States and it's also offers citizenship classes that provide opportunities for students to acquire the Civic knowledge and language skills needed to become naturalized citizens of the United States I plan to take citizen test become a citizen Dan and vote for president I'll be happy it also provides classes for adults to improve their basic skills BBE is a wonderful program and basically what we do is we help students who don't necessarily have the skills needed to be successful in the high school program or other Career Tech classes so basically students come to our program whether it's math or reading to increase skill level so that they can transition into the academic program and succeed after I finish with implants I would love to study computer class and also Child Development because I want to become a good a teacher and my country I was a kindergarten teacher that's why in this country I love to love to get a think tank resume doing groups it's very interesting we help each other as classmates I have learned a lot of new words like our teacher always says it's going to help us our next level which you would have it is like getting high school diploma like I said but I know it's going to be a lot of help reading night in the textbook so that's going to be in the talent the largest High School in California since 1942 over 250,000 students have earned a California high a certificate at one of the 52 testing centers hosted by days they also provide classes to prepare students for the hiset I'm here for my hiset and maybe in the future I appreciate all the opportunities I am heading there are thousands of people walking around Los Angeles County without a high school diploma high school equivalency test center and the opportunity to earn a certificate and move on with their lives whether it be Community College getting a job whatever the next step is we change lives we are DES in the division of adult and career Haitian it's never too late to go back to school and get your high school diploma every year hundreds of day students of all ages and background complete high school diploma credits to graduate I left High School in my sophomore year and that was 40 years ago and finally West Valley is helping to get my high school diploma the first time I came here to Evans I just joined the school to learn a little bit of English I definitely started my ESL classes I realize how important it is to continue my education not just for me to get a better job but to make a better contribution to the society right now I'm in the US women getting my high school diploma to see if there is an opportunity for me to get into a college or general get a better education already have a job lined up working with account so it doesn't choir. go to vomit I have three more courses to take and I will be done and I'll have my job working with the county Des also offers the accelerated College and Career transitions program called act this program is pacifically designed for students to thrive in a small learning environment with a one-on-one instruction and support this program has this disconnected youth ages 16 to 24 for the opportunity to complete graduation requirements to enroll in Career Technical education glasses and transition to post-secondary and employment hi I'm Savannah Johnson I'm 17 years old I graduated from afoc and earn my high school diploma I've also obtained my DNA from Maxine Waters definitely was a challenge but it wasn't impossible with the help of the great programs through LAUSD LAUSD taught me. are second chances in the programs that they provide really helped such as me turning good shaking scholarship through afoc which will allow me to attend lattc for 2 years obtain my RN get ASN then transfer to UCLA and my BSA is in go on to earning my MD in unitology office where and Technical education courses from 15 different industry sectors we have over 175 active horses being offered throughout the LA region these courses prepare students for jobs what does Skate mean computers for business and finance cosmetology and barbering culinary arts computer networking Machinist early childhood education assistant any video production one of the fastest-growing job sectors in the field of Health Care has extensive course offerings in the Health Sciences such as x-ray technology medical assistant dental assistant AC technician productivity pharmacy program as it's challenging and there's always something new to learn about to start a program this is one thing that really surprised me I thought of walking classroom but if I want to be honest I walked into a family that teacher make me feel very good and all crashes are helpful and they helped me to push to the challenges and achieve my dreams I finish the pharmacy technician program over a year I know I'm a pharmacy technician in one of the major Hospital in our area the construction and energy and utilities sectors continue to thrive in the LA region Des offers courses best plumbing electrician tile technician Mobile Electronics Construction photovoltaic portable tanks is harnessing the energy from the Sun converted to electricity for the home that I chose photovoltaics because it is a future and the future is now and I believe that we will be changing the Earth to witness renewable energy I plan to get hired within the next three months with a reputable company that wants to change the earth as well as I do in the transportation sector offers courses in both traditional and Innovative Technologies we offer Auto Body courses an automotive technician Ford diesel hybrid and traditional engines at the North Valley Occupational Center students to work on airplanes and airplane engines courses include airfare technology jobs there's a number of different companies offering positions starting salaries run anywhere between $20 an hour up to $35 an hour to students right out of school see what you find jobs I believe that it's mostly the ones that are more dedicated or that I already know what they want to do find out what it is you want to do where you want to work it's because if you work somewhere where you left he will be working a day in life my time being here the people that I've met that have graduated have had jobs waiting for them or someone had stacked interviews that they really like oh they're able to pick like I want to go there I want to go here so that's pretty awesome give her projection Nationwide they need 675,000 new mechanics by 2030 13 years that is going to be an awesome beef for us to do LAUSD days has had an apprenticeship programs in the nation we serve 7,500 of Prada we have 61 trays we have 40 program sponsors electricians plumbers Carpenter shooting out shape is the Earth TN ESL students are able to enter apprenticeship which leads to a middle class and higher employment the division of adult and Career Education is a great place for adult Learners to enroll in a wide range of free and low-cost programs to help them meet their edges Mission and career goals we serve students who struggle with low literacy and low-income we serve veterans disconnected Youth and dislocated
