Office Assistant
Program Overview:
This program is comprised of five courses from two different programs. Three courses review office procedures, records management, and business English skills and techniques. In addition, two classes are also part of the program that enhance computer skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Completion of the coursework prepares for entry level employment for general office work.
Course Title
Office Technician/1: Fundamentals (135 hrs)
Brief Course Description:
First in a sequence of three courses design for Office Technician training. Provides instruction in telephone techniques, email, mail, office tools and equipment, data verification/proofreading, records management, reference materials, travel arrangements, grammar, spelling and vocabulary, punctuation, business letter and report writing, reading, listening and speaking skills, and employability and resume preparation.

Second in a sequence of three designed for Office Technician training. Provides instruction in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentage, base, and rate, discounts and interest rates, measurements, tables and graphs, calculator operation, and employability and resume preparation

Last in a sequence of three designed for Office Technician training. Provides instruction in hard skills vs soft skills, applied academic skills, critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, personal qualities, resource management, information use, communication skills, systems thinking, technology use, resume, cover letter and/or portfolio, online job searching platforms, online job application, interview skills and follow-up letters, upgrading skills, and entrepreneurial skills.
