Accounting & QuickBooks
Program Overview:
This competency-based course emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary for students to succeed in accounting occupations where the duties may require proficiency in double-entry accounting systems. Emphasis is placed on regulatory agencies and professional groups, basic accounting principles, journals, general ledgers, worksheets, financial statements, adjusting and closing entries, spreadsheet accounting, accounts payable, accounts payable subsidiary ledgers, uncollectible accounts receivable, inventories and investments, short-term liabilities, and basic banking principles and procedures related to accounting.
By the end of QuickBooks course, you will be able to decide which QuickBooks Online level is best for your business, edit the Chart of Accounts, Set up customers and sub-customers, Create sales receipts and invoices, receive payments from customers, create sales reports, make payments to vendors, create vendor reports, set up bank feeds, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, set up and receive products, create purchase orders, apply vendor credits, prepare journal entries, write off uncollectible receivables (bad debts), set up budgets and view budget reports, create financial statements and reports, close the books in QuickBooks Online, and Pay employees.

First in a sequence of two designed for accounting. It provides students with technical instruction and practical experience in double-entry accounting systems. Emphasis is placed on regulatory agencies and professional groups, basic accounting principles, journals, general ledgers, worksheets, financial statements, adjusting and closing entries, spreadsheet accounting, accounts payable, accounts payable subsidiary ledgers, uncollectible accounts receivable, inventories and investments, short-term liabilities, and basic banking principles and procedures related to accounting.

Brief Course Description:
Second in a sequence of two designed for accounting. It provides students with technical instruction and practical experience in double-entry accounting systems. Emphasis is placed on the forms of business organizations, fixed assets, long-term liabilities, financial statement analysis, payroll, discounts, returns and allowances, job costing accounting, plant assets and depreciation, notes and interest, accrued items, and end-of-fiscal period.

Course Title: QuickBooks/Accounting Clerk (80 Hours)
Brief Course Description:
This course introduces the principles and processes in manual accounting prior to computerized systems and cycle. Instruction includes accounting principles and concepts, introduction to QuickBooks, managing files, QuickBooks home screen, creating a company file, chart of accounts, payroll accounting, working with customers and sales, working with vendors and purchases, inventory, setting up sales tax, banking transactions and bank reconciliation, processing payroll, general journal entries, creating reports, employability skills and final evaluation.
