Welcome Back Letter

Welcome Back, Team! Let’s Make This Year Extraordinary!

Dear LATC Staff, Welcome back! I hope each of you had a restful summer and found moments to recharge, reconnect, and reflect. As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, I am excited to be back and filled with gratitude to work alongside such a talented, dedicated, and inspiring group of educators and support staff.

This year, we continue to build on our shared vision of offering high-quality instruction in a supportive learning environment where students can achieve their personal, academic, and career goals. Guided by the LAUSD Strategic Plan pillars—Academic Excellence, Joy and Wellness, Engagement and Collaboration, and Operational Effectiveness—and our LATC School Plan priority to increase completer rates in all programs, we will work with focus and intentionality to ensure every learner reaches the finish line prepared for their next chapter.

Our success last year is proof of what’s possible when we keep students at the center:

  • Persistence rates: ESL 73.5%, ASE 57.4%, CTE 67.9%
  • Completers: ESL +20%, ASE +46%, CTE +55.7%
  • Attendance: 65% of staff met LAUSD’s 96% attendance target — a huge accomplishment!

As we prepare to welcome students back, let’s remember:

  • Relationships first. Students learn best when they feel connected to caring adults.
  • High expectations for all. We know our students can rise to the challenge when we believe in their potential.
  • Collaboration is our superpower. When we share ideas, resources, and strategies, we grow stronger together.
  • Completer mindset. Every class, conversation, and intervention is a step toward graduation and personal achievement.
  • Safety and inclusion. Uphold our commitment to a safe, welcoming environment where every student feels they belong, as reflected in LAUSD’s We Are One campaign and resources.

I know the start of the year is a whirlwind—lesson planning, setting up spaces, reviewing procedures—but it’s also a season of possibility. We have the tools, the heart, and the collective skill to make this our strongest year yet.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our students, to each other, and to our LATC community. I am proud to lead this team and excited to see the incredible things we will accomplish together.

Here’s to a year of growth, innovation, and joyful learning!

With appreciation and enthusiasm,
