Student Story: Jesus Cervantes

Jesus Cervantes

Hello my name is Jesus Cervantes; I was born in Mexico and I’m 30 years old. I was looking for an automotive class or school to learn auto mechanics, when I found the Diane Watson Career Technical Center, which is a branch of the Los Angeles Technology Center in Mid-City Los Angeles. I was very excited because that is exactly what I wanted as a career. I took the courses of automotive technology, because I wanted to become an auto technician. I’m glad that I just completed all five courses with Mr. Robles. During these courses, I learned engine components, and how an engine works. I also learned electrical systems, and did a project about vehicle exterior lighting. My major challenges were learning how to diagnose engine misfires, conduct compression, leakage, cylinder balance, fuel pressure, and injectors balance tests, tune-ups, alignment and tire balance. I’m really impressed that I learned all of that in little more than a year.

Mr. Robles is a very good instructor, I learned a lot from him plus he helped me to get a job at a SUBARU of SANTA MONICA. This is just the beginning of a new endeavor and my hope is to become a master technician. Thank you Mr. Robles, and thanks to the Diane Watson Career Technical Center for giving me the opportunity to be one of your students!
